NCAA Year in Review – MYS Alumni

A total of 112 McLean alumni headed NCAA teams for the 2020-21 year, garnering dozens of individual awards and seeing many of their programs go far in their respective conference championships as well as the national tournament.

Six players went all the way to the NCAA Final Four in May, with Lauren Flynn of Florida State (ACC) just falling short of the title. She and six others won conference titles as well — Makenzie DePriest-Kessler, Lily Harkes, Jasmine Bryant, and Beky Myers won the CAA title with Elon while Chloe Dawson and Kieffer Williamson came out on top in the Patriot League with Navy. Chloe Dawson was also named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year for an outstanding performance in her freshman season.

On the boy’s side, Makel Rasheed (U. of Indianapolis) was awarded GLVC Defensive Player of the Year after leading his team to an undefeated season — only losing the conference tournament championship in PKs.

Julia Leas (Georgetown) garnered the most individual awards, taking home All-Conference honors from the Big East as well as United Soccer Coaches mentions.

While some programs did not participate in 2020-21 play due to COVID, players still garnered academic honors throughout the year. Grace Sklopan (Virginia Tech), Margaux Ameer (Tufts), Jordan Silkowitz (Iowa State), Tony Ducic (Middlebury), and Scott Becker (MIT) all were named to all-conference academic honors.

In addition to the individual honors listed below, we want to congratulate the dozens of other McLean alums who worked hard and competed with their teams this year.
