Director of Coaching Announced

McLean Soccer is proud to announce the appointment of Omid Namazi as its new Director of Coaching.  Omid is a globally respected professional with an extraordinary resume spanning more than two decades of elite experience across international, professional, and youth soccer.

Formerly serving as the Boys Technical Director, Omid brings a wealth of expertise, leadership, and vision to his new role. With an extensive coaching background that includes stints at the highest levels of international football and U.S. Soccer, his transition marks a significant step forward for the club’s long-term development strategy.

Throughout a distinguished coaching career, Omid has held influential positions including:

  • Assistant Coach and Interim Head Coach for Hartford Athletic (2022–2023)
  • Assistant Coach at Houston Dynamo (2019–2022)
  • Head Coach roles with FC Helsingør (Denmark), Zob Ahan FC (Iran), and the USA U-18 Men’s National Team
  • Assistant roles with the USA U-20 MNT, USWNT, and Iran National Team – notably helping Iran qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup

He is a two-time FIFA U-20 World Cup Quarterfinalist, a CONCACAF champion, and one of the first recipients of the U.S. Soccer “Pro” Coaching License.

Known for his dedication to player development, and ability to lead both professionals and youth, he is also fluent in English, French, Farsi, and Spanish—further enhancing his ability to connect with diverse players and staff.

In his new role, he will oversee all aspects of coaching development, curriculum design, player identification, and mentoring of assistant coaches, ensuring a cohesive and high-performing environment across the club.

This appointment marks a new era for McLean Soccer, as the club continues to elevate its programs and foster a pathway for player success at the collegiate, professional, and international levels.
