U7-U12 Recreation Skills - Spring 2026

McLean Youth Soccer offers players ages U7–U12 the opportunity to further develop their skills in a fun, focused environment led by our Programs Director Josue Ugarte-Nunez.

Sessions follow the Play–Practice–Play model, beginning and ending with small-sided games to maximize touches and game understanding. In between, players are grouped by age and ability to rotate through three training stations focused on key technical and tactical skills.

Indoor Recreation Skills Development Program - Winter 2025-2026

MYS and MV Soccer have partnered for the fourth year to offer an indoor, small group (10 max participants per hour), Recreation Skills Development Program for U7-U12 Recreation players during the 2025-2026 winter season. This 8-week, co-ed program will focus on player's technical skills and development in a FUN and enjoyable environment. Professional coaches, through age-appropriate activities, will work on key fundamental techniques that will help players improve their technical base. This program’s first session will begin on Sunday, December 7. The second session will begin on February 15.

U5-U10 Indoor Recreation Futsal League - Winter 2026

MYS partners with First Touch Futsal to offer Winter Indoor Recreation Futsal for U5-U10 boys and girl players. All U5-U6 sessions and U7-U10 games will be played at The Congressional School on a hardwood surface. This program is for Recreation players only.

Age groups: CO-ED Teams

  • U5-U6

Session Start Time U5-U6: 10:30am (45 min sessions)

Session Structure U5-U6:
  • 2v2 or 3v3
  • Staff coaches divide players into 2 groups, 20 minutes warmup and skill, 20 minutes game play

Game Starting Times U7-U10: Between 11:30am and 5:00pm

Game Structure U7-U10:
  • 5v5 (1 GK + 4 field players)
  • Two 20-minute Halves

U7-U12 Recreation Skills - Winter 2026

MYS offers recreation players ages U7-U12 an opportunity to receive additional skills development training with outdoor sessions led by travel team Coach Josue Ugarte in a focused, fun environment. The curriculum consists of the Play - Practice model and at the beginning of each session players will jump into small-sided games for 25 minutes. Players will then be split into skill level/age appropriate groups to rotate between 3 stations at 15 minute intervals. Stations will include skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, receiving, ball control, and 1v1 or 2v2.

*MYS will attempt to hold a make-up session or sessions for inclement weather cancellations when field scheduling and permits allow. MYS will NOT refund or credit fees in the case of cancellations.

Future U9 Training - Winter 2026

MYS professional coaching staff offers additional, supplemental U8 ONLY (for players born in 2018) outdoor training during the Winter season for current Juniors Program players and all U8 Recreation players who may be interested.
Training sessions will be led by our travel coach and Juniors Program Director Jose Venegas. The primary training focus will be to develop the player's skills through individual and group training activities which allow players to assert their creativity and build their confidence in taking on players 1v1 and to understand their role in small group training such as 2v2 and 3v3.
