Registration, Fees & Refund Policy

The MYS Fall 2026 registration is OPEN! Registration is for players ages U3-U19 with an Early Bird rate through the month of May. 

Registration Deadlines

Deadlines are dependent on age group:

• U3-U4 registration will continue until the program has reached capacity.
• U5-U10 registration deadline to be guaranteed placement on a team is Jul 31, 2026.
• U11-U19 registration is open until NCSL Rec team capacity is reached. Players who register prior to August 1 are guaranteed a roster spot and retain their jersey number from the Spring 2026 season.

Players who want to guarantee they return to their team from the Spring 2026 season need to register before August 1 and indicate during the PlayMetrics registration process that they would like to return to their team.

• The MYS recreation staff strives to accept all players interested in joining the club. We will do our best to accommodate reasonable requests for team placement and practices, however we cannot guarantee requests.  
• The MYS Recreation program does not permit travel program players (Travel team or Juniors U8 players) to participate at the recreation level.
• Players who are registering for the Fall season must pay BEFORE being assigned to a team.

Age Group Alignment ~ New for Fall 2026

Starting this Fall, all players will be placed using a grade-aligned (August 1–July 31) age grouping rather than the previous birth year model. All players must register with the age group that matches their new grade-aligned birth window. MYS does not allow recreation players to play up without club approval, and a player's parent will need to volunteer as a coach on the team. Players requesting to play in a younger age group are required to complete a medical waiver and need approval.

Birth Date Verification

MYS requires that Recreation players U5 and older must have their date of birth verified. All players must register with the age group that matches their grade-aligned birth date range. During registration, it will be required to upload each player's birth certificate or valid, non-expired passport. This is required once for each player going forward and will not be a requirement for returning players, only new players each season.

Non-Fairfax county residents will be assessed an additional $50 non-resident fee per player per season as required by Fairfax County Park Authority.

Families with financial need are encouraged to apply for Financial Aid.
