College Advisory Program

Program Overview

This resource is designed specifically for all high school players of McLean Youth Soccer who aspire to play collegiate soccer. College is a significant milestone, and our goal is to support players in finding the best fit for their academic, personal, and athletic goals. Whether aiming for Division I, II, III, NAIA, or Junior College, we are committed to helping players maximize their potential and identify the right college opportunities.

Program Objectives

  1. Individualized Guidance: Every player has unique academic, athletic, and personal goals. We aim to help players find the right college fit based on these.
  2. Recruitment Education: Understanding the college recruiting process is key. We’ll help players learn about timelines, recruitment rules, and best practices.
  3. Navigating Options: We support players in exploring various options from D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and Junior Colleges to ensure they have all available choices at their disposal.
  4. Communication: Through individual and team sessions, players will be trained on writing emails, responding to emails, college coach phone calls and visits.
  5. Academic and Athletic Balance: We will ensure players understand how to balance their athletic aspirations with their academic needs, maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Multi-Pronged Approach

  • College Seminar Series: We provide a seminar series with sessions on: College Soccer 101, “A Path of Your Own” panel, Key Phrases of Recruitment, and a College Coach Panel with current D1, D2, D3 and Junior College coaches.
  • College Visits and Tours: Help players navigate official and unofficial visits, and provide insights into what to look for during campus tours.
